Research shows that community cats in managed colonies are often just as healthy as indoor pets. Once they are fixed, everything improves, less roaming, less fighting, better overall health, and colonies naturally stabilize over time.

BRAWL is the recipient of a grant from United Spay Alliance to offer free spay/neuter services to community cats in Patrick County. Cats selected for this program will receive a spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, ear-tip, and a one-month flea treatment at no cost to the caretaker. If you are interested in this service, please complete the spay/neuter inquiry form by clicking here and someone will contact you. Note: you must be willing to bring the cat in a trap or carrier to Rotary Field in Stuart on the designated surgery day.
We want to provide Kongs to entertain the dogs
in the kennels while they wait for a forever home.
We fill them with smooth Peanut Butter. If you would like to donate Peanut Butter for the dogs it should be smooth not chunky,
and must not contain Xylitol as that is toxic for dogs, the brand does not matter. Click here for more info on how to donate.

Notes: This petite Pit Bull/Whippet mix (our best guess) is approximately 9 months old and so smart. She will sit for a treat without asking. We are calling her Pippi. If you think she would be a good fit for your household, please visit the Patrick County Public Animal Shelter. She was surrendered with Penny and Winston. The shelter is currently at maximum capacity and desperately needs adopters.
She came into the shelter with Winston and Penny, no problems. She just needs time to adjust. From Facebook: "I’m just sharing what our experience was because this sweet girl deserves a home where she can thrive because she truly was a very good girl. She did great in her kennel, in our home and with my daughter." This dog was featured on the Blue Ridge Animal Welfare League Facebook website on Aug 30th, 2026.
