For cats born outdoors, the outside world is not something to escape, it is home.
Research shows that community cats in managed colonies are often just as healthy as indoor pets. Once they are fixed, everything improves, less roaming, less fighting, better overall health, and colonies naturally stabilize over time.
Are you feeding outside cats and need help preventing unwanted litters of kittens?
BRAWL is the recipient of a grant from United Spay Alliance to offer free spay/neuter services to community cats in Patrick County. Cats selected for this program will receive a spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, ear-tip, and a one-month flea treatment at no cost to the caretaker. If you are interested in this service, please complete the spay/neuter inquiry form by clicking here and someone will contact you. Note: you must be willing to bring the cat in a trap or carrier to Rotary Field in Stuart on the designated surgery day.

Notes: Cuteness overload! These hooligans are on a mission to steal your heart. Take a look at these 12 week old puppies (3 girls, 1 boy) who think playtime is the best part of the day (see video #2). We are not sure of their breed but looking at how much they have grown in four weeks, they are probably going to be medium-large size.
These four puppies are still patiently waiting for a home. They have had their shots and are ready to learn about life outside of a cage. They should not have to grow up in a shelter. Cute puppies available for adoption at the Patrick County Public Animal Shelter - see the video. 12 weeks old, 3 females, 1 male, mixed breed (cage card says mom is a Boxer). Call the shelter at 276-694-6259 to check which pups are still available. NOTE: Puppies chew, mess, make a noise and grow. They require vaccines, sterilization, training and lots of patience! Think carefully before adding a puppy to your family. They do not have an 'OFF' switch! . These dogs were featured on the Blue Ridge Animal Welfare League Facebook website on June 6th, 2026. - Dogs that have been spayed/neutered are available for adoption to any location including out of state residents.
